What this policy covers

This policy explains the cookies and browser storage used on cs.legal, what each one does, how your choice is recorded, and which third parties are involved. It should be read with our Privacy Notice. CS Advocates LLP is the controller for the data described here and can be contacted at [email protected].

The keys we use

cs-analytics (local storage, essential to record your choice): stores on if you allow anonymous usage statistics and off if you choose essential only. It is set when you answer the privacy banner and remains until you clear it. No expiry date is attached.
cs-theme (local storage, essential preference): remembers whether you chose the light or dark version of the site. It contains only light or dark.
WordPress session cookies (essential, signed-in staff only): these record a logged-in administrator or editor session for people who manage the site. They are not set for ordinary visitors and are not used for tracking.

We do not set advertising cookies, we do not use cross-site tracking pixels, and we do not sell browsing data.

Anonymous usage statistics

With your consent, a first-party collector records events such as a page view, scroll depth, and clicks on call, WhatsApp or email buttons. Each event stores the page address, the event type, a small value such as scroll depth, the device class and the day and hour. The collector is designed not to store your IP address with the event, and the records are not linked to an identified person. They are kept for 26 months. Standard web-server and Cloudflare security logs may briefly contain IP addresses for security and abuse prevention; those logs are kept for up to 12 months.

The privacy banner appears on your first visit and offers two choices: allow anonymous statistics, or essential only. Your answer is saved in this browser under the cs-analytics key, and non-essential statistics run only if the answer is on. Choosing essential only leaves the site fully usable. To change or withdraw your choice at any time, clear this site’s storage in your browser settings; the stored answer is removed, the banner asks again, and statistics stop until you allow them. Blocking or disabling JavaScript also prevents the statistics collector from running.

Third parties

Cloudflare, Inc. delivers and protects this website. Cloudflare may set a security cookie such as __cf_bm to distinguish people from automated traffic, and processes technical request data as our processor. Cloudflare Web Analytics is a cookieless measurement service that records aggregate page views and performance data; it does not set advertising cookies or build a cross-site profile.
Google LLC provides the map embedded on our Contact page. The map is a third-party embed: when it loads, Google may set cookies and collect technical data under its own privacy policy. If you prefer not to load it, use the postal address and telephone number on the page; blocking third-party embeds in your browser also prevents the map loading.
Microsoft Corporation provides our email through Microsoft 365. Email you send to [email protected] is processed by Microsoft as our processor; this does not set cookies in your browser.

Managing storage in your browser

Every major browser lets you view and delete cookies and local storage, and block them for specific sites. Clearing this site’s storage removes cs-analytics and cs-theme and resets the privacy banner. Blocking all storage does not prevent you reading the site, but your display and consent choices will not be remembered.
